This document is a walkthrough of the installation steps for Next Analytics for Excel, a powerful business intelligence solution from Nextanalytics Corporation for Microsoft Excel 2003, 2007 and 2010.

Step 1 – Download and run the setup program

The setup application requires Administrator privileges and internet access as it will download and install necessary Microsoft or Next Analytics components (no other third party applications will be installed). Start from the Download page on the Next Analytics web site.

Choose Save or Run from the dialog that pops up. If you choose to Save the file, locate it and run it using an account that has Administrator privileges which are required to install applications.

When you Run the setup.exe application, it will verify the certificate that was used to digitally sign the application, and confirm that it is from Nextanalytics Corporation.

Step 2 - Install required software and updates

The setup application then confirms that you have the necessary Microsoft Windows and Office configuration necessary to run the application. It may trigger updates to the Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1, the Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Office system 3.0 Runtime and the Microsoft Office 2007 PIAs. For each of these components, if it is not already installed on your computer, the software is downloaded from the internet and you may be required to accept the end user license agreement that accompanies it. These components are free from Microsoft and are required for the application to operate. No other third-party applications are installed, and everything can be removed through the Control Panel.

If the Microsoft Office Programmable Interop Assemblies were not installed with Office, they need to be done before you can install Next Analytics. Dialogs boxes will pop up to walk you through their installation, and when they complete, you must RESTART the Next Analytics installation.

Step 3 - Install Next Analytics

The Next Analytics Setup Wizard then pops up and walks you through the steps to install the application and accompanying files. You must accept the license agreement; then the program will complete the installation.

Step 4 - Initializing the trial 

To complete the installation, you have to start Microsoft Excel 2007. A dialog box will pop up confirming that the software was digitally signed by Nextanalytics Corporation.

A dialog box will pop up asking you to Register the application. Enter your email address and click the Submit button. If you have purchased the product, enter the registration code you received to activate the full license.

A new worksheet will be created showing which modules are licensed and how long you have before a license renewal is required. Please refer to the User Guide, available from your Start menu, for a walkthrough of the functionality of the application itself.

Uninstalling Next Analytics

To uninstall Next Analytics, do so through the Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs [called Programs and Features on Microsoft Vista]. You should only remove other installed components if they were installed by the Next Analytics setup – they may have been previously installed by other applications and removal will disable those applications.
