Add-in Menu has Disappeared from the Excel Ribbon Bar
Everything on the internet today is so automatic, people sometimes forget that there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes. When you ask for a download, sometimes it takes gigabytes of data to produce that spreadsheet you’re waiting for. That’s the equivalent of at least one high def movie! While the download is happening, sometimes they think that Excel is frozen, so they shut Excel down or turn off their computer. At that point, Excel puts the Addin in a Disabled state and that must be reversed.
This set of instructions will help you if the NEXT Analytics software has been disabled, most usually seen when the tab on the Windows Excel Ribbon bar is missing.
First, try rebooting your computer to see if it comes back. Excel processes sometimes get ‘stuck’ in memory, preventing the proper start-up of any add-ins.
There are times when Excel does not close properly such as when you shutdown with a file open. It may disable any installed add-ins that are running at that time, and the effect is that the Next Analytics menu item will disappear. It could be “hard-disabled” or “soft-disabled”, so you have to check both possibilities.
Step 1 – verify that the add-in has not been moved to Disabled Items.
Step 2 – make sure the add-in is checked in COM Add-ins
